Remembering Verna Ellis

June 18, 1931 – May 11, 2007
Verna Ellis was very involved in her community in West Sacramento, Calif., where she was a historian. She was a member of the DAR, Sacramento Historical Society, West Sacramento Historical Society, the Genealogical Society, the Moose Lodge, the Discovery Museum (where she enjoyed her work), the Old Sacramento Cemetery and Railroad, and she played a major role in the restoration for the Port of Sacramento Historical Society. She also volunteered her time to the Red Cross where she was deployed for the Missouri floods and the Los Angeles earthquakes. She recently received an award for being Chairperson for the West Sacramento Commission on Aging. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed by all that loved her. Mrs. Ellis is survived by her sons, Randy Ringsby of Minnesota and Rick Ringsby of Denver, Colo.; three daughters, Lori Gardner of Tulsa, Okla., Karen Ellis of West Sacramento, Calif., and Julie Dillard of Atlanta, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
