Tour of Christmas Lights


We traveled in style on a chartered limo bus to the State Capitol grounds to see the holiday lights then stopped by the Prince's and the Bledsoe's to sing Christmas Carols. Thanks to Christy for coordinating our tour!

Chapter Meeting Photos


Governor Monte and Sr. Regent Francine presented Mrs. Burton the first grade
teacher at West More Oaks School a check for $300 to fund the bus for a field
trip to the Rail Road Museum.


Helena Helmond was presented a check for $1565 that was raised at the Taco
Night Fund Raiser for the Christmas Basket Project.

Heidi Patterson has received the Award of Achievement for her chapter year
as Senior Regent.

Pat and Mauda were honored for their hard work with the Co-Worker of
the Month award.

Fund Raiser for Christmas Basket Project


Many thanks to Debbie Norton-Johnson and Christy Jourdan for all their
hard work in coordinating the 4th Annual Taco Night Fundraiser for the
West Sacramento Christmas Basket Project.

Thanks to Ignacio and Kim's hard working kitchen crew for cooking the
great taco dinner.

Mauda, Corine, Pat and Christy represented the Kiwanis Club of West Sacramento
who presented Helena Helmold with a check for $1000 for the Christmas
Basket Project.

Remembering Cheri Kemp


KEMP, Cheri J. ''Shu-Shu''
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, November 12, 2008. Preceded in death in 2004 by her loving husband of 27 years, Donald "Papa" Kemp. She is survived by her three children, Steve (Debi) Kemp, Lori Nielsen, and Dan (Patty) Kemp. Dear daughter of Toby Corbett, beloved sister of Vicki, Steven, and Michael Azzinaro. Devoted "Shu-Shu" of Marcus, Andrew, Ashley, Ariel, and Matthew. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends. Cheri will be greatly missed by her loving Bunco group of 30 years. Cheri was a tremendous cook and could make even the most simple foods taste extraordinary. Cheri had great strength and overcame many health challenges in her lifetime. Cheri was a devout Catholic and her faith sustained her through the many trials of her life. Family and friends are invited to attend a "Celebration of Life" on November 20 at 3:00 p.m. at 1504 Norfolk Avenue, West Sacramento, Calif.

Moose Members Honored


Deborah Johnson (2008 International Co-worker of the Year) Carter "Boe" Sanders
(2008 Rookie of the Year) and Theresa Lara (2008 Novice Co-worker of the Year)
were honored for their contributions to our Chapter, Lodge and Community at the
celebration dinner on November 1.

Betty Lake presented Sally Tackett with her 25 year
membership pin.

Jim Tackett announced that Charlie Ellis was selected as the
Moose Legionnaire of the Year in recognition of his contributions
to the Lodge and Community.

Remembering Margaret Linker


Margaret Renea Castro Linker died October 26, 2008. She was "50 Something." She was born in Stockton and lived in Stockton most of her life. She married her husband, Edward C. Linker, in 1962. They had two sons, Mark and Eric Linker. She was active in the Catholic Church and an auxillary member of 1LWU Local 54. She worked as a cosmetologist for 13 years.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; her sons, Mark Linker of Modesto and Eric Linker of Stockton and her six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jorden, Erika, Matthew, Natalie and Kassandra Linker. She is also survived by her mom, Augusta Castro of Stockton; sister Theresa Robinson of Stockton; brothers, Anthony Castro of Lebanon, Oregon, Joseph Castro of Stockton and Steven Castro of Stockton. She has numerous brother & sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph T. Castro, mother, June Montana Castro, and sister Sylvia Castro.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 3847 N. Sutter Street., Stockton, CA. Visitation will be held Wednesday October 29,2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Deyoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton, CA. Committal will be at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.

West Sacramento: A "kid friendly" lodge


Governor Monte McCray and the Joint Board of Officers have been working hard
to make our Lodge home and activities more "Kid Friendly". You might have noticed
the new Nintendo Game Cube Corner is now available for the kids and the
playground will soon be more than just talk. If you've been out for our functions
lately you'll notice how we are are not just "talking the talk" about making our
Lodge a real "Family Center"!

Remembering Maryethel Nelson


October 4th will be the 1st Annual Mary Ethel Nelson Memorial Golf Tournament.
This photo was taken in 2006 when Mary was in charge of the "Closest to the Gin"
hole. All proceeds from this fund-raiser will be ear-marked for our Moose Lodge Kid's Playground. If you'd like more information please contact Tammy Mattos.

Born April 3, 1935 in French Camp, California. Went to Heaven on April 19, 2008 in Sacramento, California with her loving family by her side. Cherished mother of Maggie Libby Crump and her nephew that she raised as her son, Tony Trull. Adored grandmother of Terra Montoya. Great-grandmother of Annalise, Faith, Frankie, Lawrence, Marciano and Jordan. Special sister of Arvada (Bill) Blair, Carolyn (Phil) Holmes and Wayne Reynolds. Also survived by niece Jane, nephew Ray and long time friend Vivian and numerous extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Nelson and granddaughter Kimber Brown. She was a 30 year member of Moose Lodge #1431 of West Sacramento, California. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 3:00 PM at North Sacramento Funeral Home, 725 El Camino Ave, Sacramento, CA 95815. Private inurnment.

Remembering Sandra Irwin-McCulloch


Sandy always enjoyed coming to the Lodge for breakfast on Sunday Mornings.

Survived by her husband Don McCulloch; daughter Julie Cooks and husband Bill; sons Monty Lacomb and wife Michelle and Chris Lacomb and wife Thami; five grandchildren Brieanna, Peyton and Sydney Cooks and Joey and Cera Lacomb. Sandy enjoyed being with family and many friends to which her home was always open. Always happy and ready to have a good time, only recognizing the good in others- we will miss her. Theresa and Hank


It was great to see our old friends Theresa Cobb (Mother Theresa) and Hank
out the other night. They haven't been to the lodge very much lately, but they
are both feeling better these days so we hope to see them more often.
